#Huawei sues #Samsung for infringing on another patent

According to a new report published by a Sina News, Huawei Technologies has filed yet another lawsuit against Samsung Electronics. It’s believed that the Chinese multinational corporation has collected substantial evidence through the purchase of its competitor’s high-end smartphones to prove that the technology used in the handsets infringes its patents, and is demanding the sum of 80-million Yuan ($12-million) as compensation.
Under the supervision of the court, Huawei purchased a Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 edge and Galaxy J5. After conducting tests on the devices, it concluded that all three featured a technical feature that imposed on one of their patents. It’s currently unknown what functionality Samsung has allegedly copied, but ties have been made to a patent for technical solutions on terminal displays that was granted to Huawei on June 5, 2011.
This isn’t the first time the companies have clashed, though. Back in May, Huawei approached Samsung requesting compensation for what it claimed was the unlicensed use of fourth-generation cellular communications technology, operating systems and user interface software in the South Korean firm’s latest phones.
Unfortunately, neither company has spoken out publicly on this latest matter, but a Samsung spokeswoman has said that the firm will “thoroughly review the complaint.”
