Sony’s Xperia 1 III and 5 III have the first variable focal length cameras we’ve seen in years. They offer a focal length of 70 mm and 105 mm (which works out to 3x and 4.4x magnification). But those can only switch between the two stages, they can’t zoom smoothly through the range.
