China smartphone SoC shipments will slow down in Q4 2018, research claims
According to the latest Digitimes research, smartphone AP shipments will continue to decline during this quarter with about 4.6% after the 13.9% gain in Q3 2018. Vendors appear to be feeling the trend and are giving lower order numbers. Some of the Chinese smartphone makers such as Huawei, Xiaomi, Oppo and vivo are looking to expand their overseas shipments and the efforts so far have been largely successful, especially in Eastern Europe and India. Huawei's HiSilicon Kirin Technologies appears to have benefited the most. The report also says that the AI accelerators in today's chips...
