Canalys: Chinese brands challenge Samsung in Africa

A quarterly report from Canalys shows pretty strong Samsung position in African smartphone market and a huge 42% growth in year-over-year but Chinese brands under the Transsion umbrella take a big market share as well in Q1 2018. Collectively, Tecno, iTel and Infinix, which are all sub-brands of Transsion Holdings, overtake Samsung with 38% market share in Q1 2018,compared to the 23% slice for the Korean giant.
