/ / / / #Acer unveils new TravelMate ultraportable series

There seems to be a really strong ongoing push towards ultra-portable laptops these days, with more and more great products entering the market, like the LG Gram, Samsung Notebook 9 lineup or the Dell XPS 13. We are definitely not one to complain, as it is especially great to see a capable CPU, good screen and nice battery life, all in a light as possible package. Acer's new TravelMate X3 series aims to deliver on these points as well.
The company just introduced the new family of laptops, with the ambassador being the TravelMate X349. It comes in a stylish black and all aluminum chassis, with a thickness of 18mm and total weight of just 1.53 kg - not exactly the lightest around, but still impressive. Acer has managed to fit a 14-inch FullHD IPS panel, that reclines all the way to an 180 degree angle. Also, a 6th generation Intel Core CPU (likely a selection from the available range) and up to 8GB of DDR4 RAM. For storage, there is up to 512GB worth of solid state space.

Other little extras include a backlit keyboard and touch fingerprint reader with support for Windows Hello fast sign into the bundled Windows 10 Pro OS. For connectivity, there is a USB Type-C port for things like charging, fast data transfers and even support for an Acer dock. Thankfully, however, Acer hasn't gone the MacBook way and there is still a standard set of ports, including things like USB 3.0, HDMI and a 3.5mm audio jack.
Acer says the TravelMate X349 will be available in North America starting this October with an asking price of $649.99 for the basic one. A September launch in Europe and the Middle East is also anticipated, where the unit will start at €480. And later, China should joint the list of markets as well with a staring price of CNY 5,999.
