As at was yesterday, the third-generation of Samsung’s Chrome OS-powered laptop, the Chromebook 3, popped up for pre-order on a third-party independent retailer’s website in the United States. The device carries a price tag of $200, which certainly isn’t a bad price to pay for an ultra-portable laptop that’s perfect for updating social feeds, responding to emails and creating documents whilst on the go.
This is the exact same Chromebook 3 that Samsung unveiled during its rather lengthy press conference at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas last month. The device is identical to its predecessor. However, Samsung has removed the outdated ARM processor in favour of the new Intel Braswell generation Celeron chip.
The South Korean company claims that this new CPU will not only benefit performance, but will deliver a significantly better battery life than the previous generation, which only lasted for around 8-hours. With this latest model, users can expect to receive around 11-hours of heavy usage from a full 1-hour charge.
All other internals have been kept the same, meaning the Chromebook 3 continues to pack an 11.6-inch display with a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels, 2GB/4GB of DDR3 RAM, 16GB of expandable internal storage, HDMI and USB 3.0.
